Assessment

An assessment is a test, quiz or practical evaluation that checks whether a learner has understood the material or can perform a skill. In an LMS, assessments are usually scored against a pass mark, may allow several attempts, and often decide whether a course counts as complete.

Why it matters

Assessments turn training from “they watched it” into “they understood it”, which is what regulators and managers usually care about.

How it works in Litmos

Litmos courses can include assessment modules with a pass mark and attempt settings, and the results feed into the learner's course progress.

Common pitfalls

An assessment that's too hard, ambiguous or broken can quietly block completion for a large share of learners. Watch pass rates and attempt counts, not just completion.
