Learner engagement
Learner engagement describes how actively people take part in training: whether they log in, start what they're assigned, finish it and come back. It is measured with signals such as login activity, start and completion rates, time to complete and assessment attempts, rather than any single number.
Why it matters
Low engagement shows up later as overdue training and failed audits. Spotting it early, at the level of a team or a course, gives you time to act.
Useful signals
People who never logged in; assignments never started; courses started but not finished; modules where many people stop; and teams whose activity is well below the rest.
Common pitfalls
Treating engagement as a content problem only. Often the cause is practical: people don't know training was assigned, or a manager hasn't made time for it.
