The problem

What it's like in Litmos today

  • Turning HR's new-starter spreadsheet into Litmos users, teams and course assignments is slow, manual work.
  • Columns never match an import template exactly, so files get reformatted before they can be used.
  • Mistakes like a misspelt team name are found after the import, not before.

How Micro solves it

Keep Litmos. Do this part in Micro.

  1. 1

    Use the spreadsheet you have

Micro recognises common column names, like “Surname”, “Department” or “Courses”, so there's no template to fill in.

  2. 2

New and existing people in one file

New emails become new users. People who already exist get only the fields, teams and courses that are different.

  3. 3

    Problems flagged first

Invalid emails, duplicate rows, and team or course names that don't match are listed in the preview, before anything is sent to Litmos.

  4. 4

    Undo

Imported the wrong file? Undo deactivates the users the import created and reverses its other changes.

Questions

What columns can the spreadsheet have?
An email column is required. Micro also recognises first name, last name, job title, company, access level, team and courses, under common names like “Surname”, “Department” or “Training”. Several teams or courses can go in one cell, separated by semicolons.
Will new users get a welcome email?
Only if you choose. Imports run with Litmos notifications off unless you tick the option to send them.
What happens to people already in Litmos?
They're matched by email, and only what's different is changed. Nobody is duplicated.
Can I check it before it runs?
Yes. Every import is a draft first. You see who will be created and updated, plus any warnings, and nothing reaches Litmos until you press Apply.
