Onboarding training

Onboarding training is the set of courses new employees complete when they join, covering company policies, systems, compliance basics and the skills for their role. In an LMS it is usually a learning path assigned automatically on the start date, with due dates spread over the first weeks or months.

Why it matters

Good onboarding gets new people productive faster and makes sure required training is done from day one, not discovered missing at the first audit.

How it works in Litmos

New starters are added to Litmos, by hand, by import or through an integration, and placed in teams. Onboarding courses or learning paths are then assigned to them, often by rules.

Common pitfalls

New starters who arrive as a spreadsheet and wait days to be set up; people who join the wrong team and miss role-specific training; and no view of how each intake is progressing.
