SCORM
SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a set of technical standards that lets eLearning content packaged by one tool run in any compliant LMS. A SCORM package is a zip file of HTML, media and a manifest; the LMS launches it and records completion, score and progress reported back by the content.
Why it matters
SCORM means you can build a course in an authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate, or buy one off the shelf, and run it in your LMS without custom integration.
Versions
The two versions in common use are SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004. SCORM 1.2 is the most widely supported; SCORM 2004 adds richer sequencing and separate completion and pass/fail status.
How it works in Litmos
Litmos accepts SCORM packages as modules inside a course. Whatever the package reports, such as completion and score, becomes part of the learner's results.
Common pitfalls
Packages that never send a completion, so learners get stuck at 99%; mismatched completion settings in the authoring tool; and content that only works on desktop. If one module has an unusual drop-off, test the package.
