Instructor-led training (ILT and VILT)

Instructor-led training (ILT) is training delivered live by a trainer, traditionally in a classroom. Virtual instructor-led training (VILT) is the same thing delivered online through video conferencing. In an LMS, ILT sessions are scheduled, learners register for them, and attendance is recorded so the session counts towards completion.

Why it matters

Some topics need live practice, discussion or hands-on assessment. Tracking ILT in the LMS keeps one complete training record per person.

How it works in Litmos

Litmos supports instructor-led sessions within courses: admins schedule sessions, learners register, and instructors mark attendance and completion.

Common pitfalls

Attendance that's never marked, so learners show as incomplete; and sessions scheduled without enough seats for everyone who's assigned the course.
