Mandatory training
Mandatory training is any training an organisation requires people to complete, whether because of law, regulation, industry standards or internal policy. It includes compliance topics like data protection and safety, plus role-specific requirements such as equipment certification. It is usually assigned automatically and tracked against due dates.
Why it matters
Mandatory training is what managers and auditors ask about first. Admins need to know at any moment who is up to date and who isn't.
Mandatory vs compliance training
The terms overlap. Compliance training usually refers to legal and regulatory topics; mandatory training is the wider set of anything required, including internal policies and role-based skills.
Common pitfalls
Too much mandatory training. If everything is required, people rush it. Keep the list short, and make the rest optional.
